IKEA Richmond Saves 7% on Electricity

In May 2002, Legend Power Systems Inc. (LPSI) installed an Electrical Harmonizer at the IKEA Richmond facility as part of a pilot project with BC Hydro.
Based on a pre-installation audit a 750 amp Electrical Harmonizer was installed in series with the main electrical service in the electrical switch room.
The pilot generated significant savings and the Electrical Harmonizer was purchased by IKEA after the pilot period.
The results of the installation were monitored and verified by BC Hydro Power Smart Group. Since the installation of the Electrical Harmonizer the following results have been achieved and will be persistent into the future:
* 265,150 kWhrs reduction in annual energy consumption (7%)
* 50 kW reduction in peak demand
Since the installation of the Electrical Harmonizer at IKEA in May 2002 the facilities electrical distribution system has operated with optimized efficiency.
