Shabir Dhanani

Mr. Dhanani is a Chartered Accountant trained in England and Canada. He was born and raised in Tanzania and moved to England to pursue his Chartered Accountant designation. Mr. Dhanani was fortunate to obtain a solid education by training with public practice firms, firstly with a small accounting firm and later with Coopers & Lybrand. He then moved to Vancouver in 1980 and obtained his Canadian CA designation.

Mr. Dhanani’s long career in Vancouver has brought him a strong background in accounting, management, entrepreneurship and exposure to a variety of businesses in the manufacturing, hospitality, real estate development and construction sectors. Mr. Dhanani brings to Legend Power not only his diverse experience, but skills such as controllership, systems control, internal audit, project evaluation, budgeting & forecasting, variance analysis & project management and a knowledge of various accounting and business software.

Over the last ten years, Mr. Dhanani has owned and managed two companies that were both engaged in the retrofit construction industry. Prior to that he was VP of B.C.’s largest independent car rental company and served as VP Finance of a real estate development company which also had other interests in oil & gas and hospitality. Mr. Dhanani was also Controller of B.C.’s largest wood window manufacturer and a restaurant group.

Mr. Dhanani has held a number of voluntary positions throughout his career, the most gratifying of which was as Chairman of the Economic Planning Board of the Ismaili Council for B.C.
